Dr. Michele King joined William & Mary in 1999 and teaches public speaking, oral communication, entertainment education, and esports courses. She is an Entrepreneurship Hub mentor, FGLI (First-Generation, Limited-Income) mentor, and volunteers in the Entrepreneurship Program for the York County School division.
She facilitates presentation workshops on crafting compelling stories for YALI (Young African Leadership Initiative) Mandela Washington Fellowship Presidential Precinct, the Catalyst Leadership Program for the Institute for Integrative Conservation (IIC), U.S. National Science Foundation researchers, and many more.
In 2020, Dr. King was a TEDx speaker with her talk on "Time to Get In the Game: Bringing Esports to William & Mary." Since her presentation, she co-founded the Esports Program and served as the Director, Esports Advisory Board executive member, Faculty Task Force chair, and Steering Committee chair. She won the 2021-2022 Collegiate Esports Director of the Year. She continues to publish, present, and contribute to the discourse on the esports ecosystem.
